Now (very) outdated, iOS App Development for Teens by Teens was my attempt at teaching teens about basic programming and app development.
After I got a some grasp of programming and iOS app development, I sought after others around my age in my area who programmed, but found no one to my avail. I decided that I should help teach teens the basics of programming and iOS app development in an approachable way, so I wrote a book. Funded through Kickstarter, I was able to self-publish the book in 2014 and ship copies to backers all across the world. Amazingly, my book was used as a textbook in a Ecuadorian coding camp.
After publishing the book, I was contacted and asked to teach a class at a local community college over the summer for a class of teenagers. I thought it was just in-line with what I wanted to accomplish with the project, so I ended up teaching a class of nearly 20 students.
Overall, it was an amazing experience and I hope to be able to create more educational materials either in print or for Swift Playgrounds for iPad in the future!
